Personal is a telecommunications company in Argentina and a subsidiary of Telecom Argentina S.A. The company was launched in 1995 as the mobile phone brand of Telecom, providing mobile services in northern part of Argentina.
Telecom had provided mobile services in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area since 1993 under the “Miniphone” brand, in a joint venture with Telefónica. However, legal changes in 1999 required the separation of Miniphone and other shared companies.
As a result, Telecom Personal began offering mobile services independently in Greater Buenos Aires, taking over some of Miniphone’s former customers.
In 2021, the company was absorbed by Telecom’s Fibertel and Cablevision subsidiaries to combine broadband and mobile internet services under one brand. Personal is also considered the second-largest phone service provider in Argentina.
